Project Name
Oral History Archive
Project Description
The Jewish Women's Archive has accumulated hundreds of hours of oral histories in the past decade. The interviews are on primarily on cassette and minidisk. It is critical that these items be digitized and archived for long term preservation and access.
We are currently partnering with a Massachusetts state project, the Digital Commonwealth, to use their DSpace repository as the initial home of the materials: wav files, mp3 files (for presentation); transcripts in .doc and .pdf (for presentation) forms, etc.
The second phase will be to create a web2.0 interface to the materials to enhance their findability, mashability, and usability. This will be done using the Drupal Open Source CMS
